Slime Care
Why is my slime sticky? How do I fix it?
Slime becomes sticky as it melts back into glue when exposed to warmer temperatures/heat through the shipping process, or simply as it breaks down over time. Don't worry - there's an easy fix.
Adding small amounts of activator and kneading it in will turn your slime from sticky to playable again. We cover it all in our Slime Care guide - be careful not to overactivate it!
What is activator? How should I use it to care for my slime?
The activator we use is a very diluted borax-based solution. This is the magic solution that turns glue into slime!
You should activate your slime frequently; whenever it gets too sticky for your liking. This maintains your slime and prevents it from melting back into glue. It's hard to revive completely melted slime.
You would have received a small ziplock of white borax powder to make your own activator (read our Slime Care guide for instructions). Alternatively, you can use contact lens solution as an activator (as it contains borax) or purchase borax from any supermarket.
I overactivated my slime. What do I do?
Leave it in a warm place (a bright windowsill is good) or under the sun and wait for it to melt a little. The heat will melt your overactivated, stiff and rippy slime into a soft, stretchy, playable slime.
If you have some glycerin on hand, you can add a drop at a time and knead it in. This is a quicker and more instant way to reverse overactivation.
Why is my slime not stretchy and rips easily when stretched?
Your slime is overactivated! Overactivated slime feels stiff, hard and rips easily when stretched. This can happen if you added too much activator to your slime.
We always overactivate our slimes slightly before shipping them out. Overactivation is needed to combat slimes from melting too much during the warm shipping process (hot delivery vans as posties drive around all day) .
If your slime arrives overactivated, it's because it did not endure as much heat as expected during transit. Put it in a warm place for a little bit and it will melt into a perfect slime. It beats receiving a completely melted slime that is hard to revive.
How does the weather/room temperature affect my slime?
During winter or when it's cold out, you will notice that your slime feels hard when you first play with it. This is because cold temperature stiffens slime (but extends its lifespan too). Warm it up with your hands and your slime will be the right texture for playing.
During summer or when it's warm, you will notice your slime gets sticky quicker. More frequent activation and care is needed to keep your slime from completely melting. Combat this by keeping your slime in a cool spot.
Why did my slime shrink/deflate? How do I fix it?
Clay-based slimes like our Marshmallow (butter) slime, Jelly Putty and any DIY clay toppers mixed into slime will shrink/deflate over time. This occurs naturally when the moisture in the clay evaporates over time or through repeated play. If your slime is kept in an air tight container, it should still be playable for months as shrinkage will not affect its playability.
Floam slimes dehydrate over time as well as styrofoam balls absorb moisture from the slime. You can add small amounts of water and activator to get your slime back to its original volume.
Why is my clear slime foggy?
Clear slime gets foggy over time as natural oils and skin cells from your hands transfer onto the slime through play. Always remember to wash and dry your hands before play so you can keep the clarity of your clear slimes for as long as possible.
Why is my pigment putty silvery after playing? Will it go back?
Yes it will! It turns silvery because of all the tiny air bubbles you are trapping in the slime through play.
Once you return the slime to its container, air bubbles will rise to the top gradually, leaving your slime looking the way it was originally.
How long will my slime last?
With proper care, slime can last you a few months of play, sometimes even more :)

What ingredients are used in my slime?
Slime may contain non-toxic glue, food colouring, skin-safe fragrance oil, clay, instant snow, diluted borax solution, beads/charms/glitter made from resin or plastic.
Does my slime contain borax?
Yes. All our slimes are made using a diluted borax solution.
Can I use anything else other than borax as an activator?
We have found that borax is the most effective ingredient for activating slimes. Borax is found in cleaning detergents and contact lens solution. When used properly in a diluted solution, it is safe - just like contact lens solution.
If you don't want to use a diluted borax solution, you can use contact lens solution as an activator. Just note - it works because it contains borax too!
Can I eat slime?
No. Slime is not for eating. Children playing with slime should be supervised at all times.
Please do not ingest slime or the borax provided with your order. We are not responsible for damages from negligence or improper use of our products.
I got slime in my clothes/hair/carpet. How do I get it off?
To get slime off clothes, scrape off any excess slime, then soak the slime-stained spot in vinegar for 5-10 minutes. Vinegar will help dissolve the slime and you can easily scrub it out after.
Alternatively, you can also just quickly chuck it in the wash! (spoken from experience as a mum of slime-loving kids) Our slimes are made using water-soluble glue and will dissolve in warm water.
To get slime off hair, massage conditioner and warm water through it until it's dissolved or removed.
To get slime off carpet, soak the affected area in vinegar for 5-10 minutes, and scrub off once dissolved.
